    In addition to the above criteria, the application software product must conform to strict guidelines as follows:

    • Your application must be generally commercially available to commercial customers.
    • You must publish a commercial price for your application on your standard price list or price schedule.
    • You must regularly release new updates of your application and/or new version releases of your application on Solaris with SPARC to your customers to whom you provide technical support.
    • Your application must be supported by a professional technical support service organization.
    • Your application must work with the latest major release or recent major update version of Oracle Solaris.

    This Knowledge Zone was formerly called the Sun Chip Multithreading Servers Knowledge Zone.

    Distribution rights cover servers based on the SPARC T4, T3 and UltraSPARC T2/T2+ processors. Also included are Oracle Solaris, Oracle Solaris Cluster, Sun Rack, Sun data center Switches, StorageTek HBAs, and networking cards and adapters.

      • Oracle VM Server for SPARC (formerly Logical Domains) is now recognized as a hard partition for the purpose of Oracle software licensing. When configured with CPU whole cores, customers can take full advantage of Oracle’s virtualization technology while optimizing their Oracle software licensing costs.

    Partner Installation of Oracle Hardware

    Oracle provides Specialized partners with the methodologies, resources, and tools to deliver their own hardware installation services. Based on Oracle's Enterprise Installation Services (EIS) methodology, installations performed by Specialized partners are recognized by Oracle for the purposes of support and product warranty.

    Specialization is mandatory for a partner to be recognized as qualified to install the products defined by that specific Specialization.

    Partners that perform installations are required to accept the Oracle Installation Service Addendum. Partners are also required to report installations to Oracle.

    The Specializations include:

    The SPARC T4-Based Servers Specialization recognizes partner organizations that are proficient in selling and implementing SPARC T4-Based servers.

    SPARC T4-Based servers with Oracle Solaris are optimized for Oracle enterprise software. With a 5x increase in single-thread performance over the previous generation, large memory capacity, massive I/O performance, built-in virtualization, and extreme reliability, availability and security, the SPARC T4-Based servers also serve as an efficient platform for consolidating and virtualizing mission-critical workloads.

    SPARC T2 and T3-Based Servers (Qualifying Specialization)
    No longer qualifying after July 5, 2013.

    The SPARC T2 and T3-Based Servers Specialization has entered the "transition out phase." SPARC T2 and T3-Based Servers Specialized Partners have until June 29, 2013 to meet the criteria and apply for the newest version. Partners working toward SPARC T2 and T3-Based Servers Specialization may still apply for specialization until June 29, 2013, however are encouraged to focus on the latest release.     The SPARC T2 and T3-Based Servers Specialization recognizes partner organizations that are proficient in selling and implementing SPARC T2 and T3-Based Server solutions.

    Oracle's SPARC T-Series servers combine the multi-core, multi-thread UltraSPARC T-Series processors with the power and flexibility of the Oracle Solaris Operating System. Ideal for multi-threaded commercial and technical applications, these systems deliver up to 256 simultaneous compute threads per server, optimize utilization with built-in virtualization technology, and reduce operating costs with its superior power and space profile. In addition, systems powered by the UltraSPARC T2 or T2 Plus system on a chip processors have multithreaded 10 Gb Ethernet networking (UltraSPARC T2 only), PCI Express I/O expansion, and floating point and cryptographic processing units integrated on the chip.
