Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) protects data and applications by combining layers of defense across the network, physical hardware, and web-facing services that are aligned to hardened operational procedures. Direct access to 100% of bare metal compute resources

Bare metal servers provide customers isolation, visibility, and control of an entire dedicated server. For the most demanding applications, Oracle’s bare metal instances scale up to 160 cores (the largest in the industry for Arm-based servers), 2TB of RAM (for Intel/AMD servers) and up to 1 PB of block storage. Other cloud providers install agents and additional software, but at Oracle we install zero software on bare metal machines. As a result, customers gain the highest possible levels of performance.

VMs that automatically adjust to workload demand spikes

By automatically adjusting to workload demand spikes, burstable instances offer substantial savings for workloads that don’t require continuously high CPU performance. Using a baseline CPU utilization metric, customers can right-size these VMs for workloads needing a small amount of CPU most of the time but a higher amount occasionally. Burstable instances are optimized for low CPU workloads, such as development environments, CI/CD pipelines, logging systems, static websites, and some microservice applications.

Capacity Reservations

Oracle customers can set aside virtual machine and bare-metal compute instance capacity in a region to assure availability and ensure business continuity. Customers can quickly create capacity reservations using the Console, API, or CLI. Reservations can be modified or deleted at any time with no minimum time commitment. Reservations are billed at 85% of the regular resource price, reducing the cost of maintaining disaster recovery (DR) or buffer capacity, compared to hot-spare approaches.
