Billings Clinic is the largest independent health system across the state of Montana and northern Wyoming. Known for its comprehensive services and commitment to high-quality, compassionate care, it serves a vast region of about 200,000 square miles, roughly equivalent to the distance between Washington, DC, and Chicago.
To enhance its operations across this expansive and challenging frontier, Billings Clinic has implemented Oracle Health's real-time health system solutions. The primary challenge the clinic faced was aligning care and standardizing tools across 23 critical access hospitals and three tertiary centers. By centralizing key functions—such as capacity management, transport, environmental services, and bed functions—in one integrated system, Billings Clinic is enhancing its situational awareness and establishing common data definitions.
Billings Clinic reports that this transformation is helping team members anticipate challenges and optimize coordination, ultimately leading to significant improvements, including a positive impact on patient length of stay.
Billings Clinic is also collaborating with the Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications team, recognizing that clinical and business operations are two sides of the same coin. This collaboration aims to align technology, processes, and insights across all domains, positioning Billings Clinic for greater resilience and long-term success. The integration of real-time health solutions and Fusion Applications will enable patient-facing and business-facing operations to work together seamlessly to support the clinic's mission of providing quality care across its vast regional network.
