“Upgrading our meter data management platform with Oracle was a critical step in preparing for second-generation smart meters and Japan’s national energy initiatives. We completed a smooth transition and now have a strong foundation to support a more distributed electricity future, including EVs and solar.”
Chubu Electric Power Grid is one of Japan’s largest power transmission and distribution companies, serving the Chubu region. To support national initiatives focused on advancing energy management and strengthening resilience through second-generation smart meters, the utility upgraded to the Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management platform, which manages more than 10 million meters. The update supports the utility’s plans for a more distributed electricity architecture, including readiness for electric vehicles (EVs) and solar generation. Chubu Electric Power Grid also strengthened its mission-critical metering foundation to meet interval-readiness requirements at scale, improve operational resilience, and support future grid initiatives aligned with distributed energy resources and electrification.
