Co-op helps employees build skills and take charge of their development

Oracle Grow and Oracle Dynamic Skills improve the UK retailer’s visibility into workforce skills and open pathways for employee learning and mobility.

We are proud of our skills journey to date, and the partnership we have with Oracle has enabled us to get closer to our vision for a skills-based Co-op: one where skills become the currency of talent, and where our skills insights are helping our leaders and organisations to solve real business issues.

Co-op, one of the UK’s largest retailers, set out to improve how it understands and uses employee skills data—an area where it previously had limited visibility beyond CVs collected during hiring. Facing turnover and a fast-changing retail environment, Co-op shifted to upskilling employees instead of relying on external hires to meet changing business needs. By implementing Oracle Grow and Oracle Dynamic Skills, Co-op now captures a current view of workforce skills, helping employees see their strengths and find new learning opportunities tailored to their interests and roles. Employees find it easier to engage with skills-based development, and Co-op can better match people to open roles, providing a stronger foundation for internal mobility and a competitive advantage.
