About NetApp

NetApp is a data storage solutions company that works with joint design manufacturers, contract manufacturers, and global logistics providers.

Business problem: Fragmented systems made it hard to trust product data

As product designs evolved, product information was scattered across legacy systems and offline spreadsheets. An Oracle Agile PLM and E-Business Suite system housed over 350,000 item records, but inconsistent processes created data integrity issues and slowed collaboration.

Solution and results: Centralized product records with embedded AI support

NetApp partnered with PwC and Oracle to overhaul product management and supply chain processes. NetApp adopted Oracle Fusion Cloud Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and used embedded AI features to centralize product data, automate attribute defaulting, and support workflows for product development, planning, and service operations.

The company also standardized over 1,000 product attributes down to 600, rationalized user item types, and formalized processes for joint design and manufacturing partners.

NetApp reports a 40% reduction in design and data load times and as much as 60% less development effort. The system uses more than 30 integrations connecting Oracle Fusion Cloud PLM to downstream systems and partners providing up-to-date service BOMs for spare parts and field service operations.
