Panea accelerates OCI migration and goes live in 44 days with Oracle Cloud

Database 19c, and Oracle Data Guard to support payroll, HR, and compliance workloads in Italy.

Italy | Professional Services

The phrase "production database migration" instills fear, even among our highly experienced resources, when thinking about the result to be achieved, the downtime to be minimized, the disastrous potential data loss, etc. In this project, working with the Oracle Lift team proved to be the perfect choice: they managed to transform a complex challenge into a virtually seamless process, allowing us to power up the new Exadata X11 without effectively stopping business. Today, the various benchmarks we obtain from the monitoring systems on OCI and especially from user feedback give us the certainty that our technology is running at an extra gear.
Francesco MannelliHead of IT Systems, Security, Quality, and Compliance, Panea Group

Panea needed to move its production Oracle database to the cloud quickly because of urgent business demands, limited internal expertise, and the need to keep downtime low while setting up disaster recovery. The company operates in Italy’s media sector and supports payroll management, personnel administration, and regulatory compliance, which makes reliable database performance especially important.

To meet that need, Panea worked with Oracle Cloud Lift EMEA to provision Exadata Cloud@Customer X11 environments in Frankfurt and Amsterdam, create VM clusters, deploy Oracle Database 19c, and configure Oracle Data Guard. The team also completed a downtime-based Data Pump migration, post-migration validation, and application testing, then handed the environment over with documentation and runbooks for day-to-day ownership. Panea completed the move in 44 days and went live on 19 January 2026. Altogether, this process gave Panea a stronger foundation for its Oracle workloads and supported more than $340,000 in annual OCI consumption demonstrating a clear value from choosing Oracle.
