AI workloads went live less than a year after construction began.

The project is expected to generate more than 8,000 construction jobs, as well as 1,700 permanent jobs onsite or in the community once construction is completed. Local suppliers, vendors, contractors and residents will be prioritized. Oracle is currently hiring for a range of permanent positions in tech, engineering and operations, as well as offering a paid work trainee program to help launch a career in tech without experience.

This AI data center will yield an estimated $30 million annually in local economic benefits for the City of Abilene and Taylor County, supporting schools, emergency services, roads, and county programs.

• The Abilene AI data center connects directly to the ERCOT grid, allowing us to draw from the region's robust and growing supply of renewable energy, including wind, which often goes underutilized in the area.
• To support grid stability, the Abilene campus uses GE Vernova’s modern natural gas turbines for backup power. The turbines are equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, which transforms nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless water vapor and nitrogen through a catalytic converter, producing 90% lower emissions than conventional gas- or diesel-powered reciprocating engines, with little to no methane slip.

• The Abilene AI data center uses a one-time fill, closed-loop, non-evaporative liquid cooling system that significantly reduces water consumption.
• Each building will use roughly 12,625 gallons per year for cooling maintenance, which is just over the yearly water use of a single American household—an exceptionally small amount for a facility of this size.

The campus consists of eight buildings on 1,100 acres, encompassing 4 million square feet of building space.
