Business problem: Disconnected systems made it hard to see inventory in real time
CHS ran supply chain operations on disconnected applications and manual workflows. That made it difficult to track inventory in real time, align replenishment to demand, and respond quickly to recalls or expirations.
Solution and results: Standardized processes with cloud applications
CHS adopted Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite to support a shared services model, deploying an integrated suite of Oracle Fusion Cloud Finance and Accounting, Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain and Manufacturing, and Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Resources applications.
With Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Execution, CHS improved visibility from distribution centers to point of care, with planning and replenishment aligned to local demand. CHS also benefited from lot and serial tracking and unique device identification (UDI) traceability to support faster, more targeted recalls.
Inventory management, wave planning, task interleaving, and mobile point-of-use capture help support distribution center throughput. Additionally, charge accuracy, and replenishment capabilities are helping the organization maintain its focus on patient care.
With efficiency gains from the Oracle Fusion Applications Cloud Suite CHS expects $20–40 million in annual savings from redesigned workflows and deeper business insights. CHS also described using quarterly updates to stay current with the latest AI-driven planning, supplier risk insights, and analytics features without disrupting operations.
