What my team has seen is the elimination of that burden of supporting that technical environment. They can now focus on the software and the enhancements, the patient experience, the provider experience.

A digital transformation has revitalized Southeast Georgia Health System. The not-for-profit community health system, which serves six counties with two acute care hospitals and numerous clinics, has successfully migrated from an on-premises system to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This strategic move was a direct response to the mounting technical debt, security risks, and high maintenance and staffing costs associated with its previous environment.

An Oracle Health customer since 1999, Southeast Georgia was among the first providers to move to OCI. The health system chose OCI for its promise of enhanced stability, access to the latest technology, and the ability to offload the burden of system management. This decision also offered significant cost savings in data center maintenance and licensing. The migration, which began in January 2024, has been a resounding success. Physicians were already praising the system's improved performance just weeks after going live. Since implementing OCI, Southeast Georgia has achieved a 14.7% improvement in millennium average transaction response time, a 41% improvement in Percent of Transactions >5 seconds, and a 49.8% reduction in login average response time.[1] By streamlining system access, clinicians can initiate workflows faster and dedicate more time to patient care. Ultimately, this move has not only addressed the health system’s immediate technical challenges but also positioned it for future growth and innovation.
