Oracle and Wild Bio Join Forces to Advance AI-Driven Agriculture

Oracle and Wild Bioscience (Wild Bio) today announced a collaboration to advance agricultural resilience and crop-based carbon removal using AI. As part of the partnership, Wild Bio plans to use Oracle Cloud and Oracle IoT technology to support its field research.
Wild Bio is using AI to tackle two major challenges in agriculture: maintaining crop productivity as environmental stress increases and developing crop varieties that can remove more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Both efforts build on the same idea—AI can learn from millions of years of plant evolution and identify traits that can improve how crops perform.

Wild Bio’s platform uses AI to analyze plant genomes and identify genetic traits that have helped wild plants adapt and thrive over time. Researchers then introduce promising traits into modern crop varieties and test whether they can improve yield, resource efficiency, climate resilience, or carbon-removal potential. As part of the collaboration, Wild Bio plans to use Oracle Cloud and Oracle IoT technology to capture field data, bring it together in an integrated cloud environment, and use AI to analyze the resulting datasets and inform future research.
From AI Models to the Field
Wild Bio is testing its crop varieties in field trials to evaluate how they perform under real-world agricultural conditions. Data captured through the trials can help researchers assess crop performance and carbon removal while providing information to improve the next generation of traits.
“The world cannot solve climate change and food security as separate problems,” said Professor Steve Kelly, co-founder and chief scientific officer, Wild Bio. “We need crops that can perform better under increasing pressure while also helping address atmospheric CO2. This collaboration enables us to build the capabilities we need to measure how our crops perform in the field.”
The collaboration will help Wild Bio continue its field research as it works to validate and scale its carbon-removal program. The collaboration also supports Oracle’s broader sustainability strategy, including its commitment to achieve net-zero emissions across its global value chain by 2050 through deep emissions reductions and verified, high-quality removals for remaining hard-to-abate emissions.
