| Was 2020 the year developers saved us? |
|
| January 2021 |
None of us is eager to look back at 2020. But if you’re a software developer, you had a lot to do with how the world handled a difficult year.
Genome sequencing and vaccine creation? Couldn’t have happened without you. Working from home? Thanks, LAMP stack. Supply chains and financial accounts kept humming because of you. Delivery services for shoppers worked thanks to your machine learning algorithms. You COBOL programmers stepped in to ensure that state unemployment systems could handle overwhelming demand. The cloud engineers among us helped companies architect applications and choose vendors capable of supporting torrents of livestream data—and at predictable prices.
How did you help the world survive last year? Write me with your thoughts—and thank you!
