This security advisory (BEA07-107.02) contains updated information in Section I and II.
This security advisory (BEA07-107.02) contains the corrected remedy for this vulnerability on WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express 8.1. A patch is available to resolve this issue.
Please disregard security advisory BEA05-107.01, as this advisory, BEA07-107.02, supersedes it.

A remote attacker could make too many invalid login attempts.
Severity: Medium
A password might be guessed by a brute force attack.
A problem was identified that could potentially cause a security vulnerability in certain versions of WebLogic Server. Patches are available to correct this problem (see Section II). Oracle treats potential security problems with a high degree of urgency and endeavors to take appropriate steps to help ensure the security of our customers' systems. As a result, Oracle strongly suggests the following actions:
All sites using username/password authentication are susceptible to this vulnerability.
A knowledgeable attacker could make more invalid login attempts against a username than should have been allowed before the username was locked out.
This patch resolves the issue by ensuring that invalid login attempts correctly result in a user being locked out.

WebLogic Server 8.1 Service Pack 6 includes the functionality in this patch.
WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express version 7.0
WebLogic Server 7.0 Service Pack 7 includes the functionality in this patch.
