Oracle installed a solar photovoltaic system at its Burlington, Massachusetts, facility in April 2015. Sitting atop a four-story parking deck, 1,938 solar panels support a 600-kW DC PV system that generates clean, zero-emission electricity for the new, adjacent 125,000-square-foot building.
The photovoltaic system produced 653,254 kWh of energy from the sun in 2015, representing a US$101,022 savings in the cost associated with purchasing energy from the local utility. That’s enough energy to power about 60 average-size homes for a year.
For electric lighting, the garage features all-LED fixtures. In addition, a water management system and sealed-edge solar panels mitigate negative or even dangerous effects of heavy rain and snow.
