The AMEOS Group, a leading healthcare provider in the German-speaking region of Europe, provides comprehensive medical services through more than 100 hospitals, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation and nursing facilities.

In one of Germany’s largest healthcare digitalization programs, AMEOS Group worked with Oracle Health to create a blueprint for implementing i.s.h.med Model System, a preconfigured EHR containing templates and other materials, across approximately 30 clinics within three years. This ambitious project involved redefining and optimizing over 200 interdisciplinary processes, aiming to achieve more efficient documentation and processes, standardize and update software and hardware, and create clearer, safer, and more efficient workflows. A key success factor was AMEOS’s "train the trainer" approach, where nearly 1,500 key electronic health record (EHR) users received intensive training from the Oracle Health team to serve as on-site first points of contact.

Beyond introducing a uniform EHR with each rollout, the project also involved replacing or updating up to 30 other software applications, adapting over 3,000 computers to current safety standards, and laying approximately 300 kilometers of data cables. This digitalization has transformed daily workflows, as evidenced by:

  • More than 7.7 million history entries now digitally recorded1
  • Nearly 11.9 million documents consistently available1
  • 12.6 million medication events securely documented1
