Greater Cincinnati Water Works taps Oracle Cloud for smart meter upgrade
Greater Cincinnati Water Works selects Oracle Customer Cloud Service to update its systems, allowing for future smart meter installations.
“Achieving success in these types of projects requires a special group of talented individuals and incredible teamwork. GCWW, Oracle, and Wipro have shared a long partnership and have now successfully implemented a new billing system three times.”
Greater Cincinnati Water Works, a municipally owned utility since 1839, is responsible for delivering water, promoting environmental sustainability, and providing service to the greater Cincinnati area. To accommodate future growth, GCWW transitioned its Customer Information System from on-premises to Oracle Customer Cloud Service. The transition to the cloud aimed to improve scalability, customer experience, and workforce readiness through training and adoption programs. The water company adopted Oracle Utilities Management Solutions with Customer Cloud Service for its features uniquely suited to the water industry. The Cloud Service facilitated billing and meter management, aligning with the company’s plans to install AMI smart meters. The company worked with partner Wipro, which helped GCWW reduce its operational and recurring costs, including using Batch Scheduler and Wipro’s Disaster Recovery solutions. After implementation, GCWW saw faster time to market, reduced costs, and a consistent upgrade process. The application also helped support training for employees, helping to ensure smooth onboarding of new users.
