LAC reduces costs 64% after migrating from MariaDB to Oracle HeatWave MySQL
The Japanse cybersecurity firm scales its threat intelligence platform and increases performance with Oracle HeatWave MySQL on OCI.
“We consolidated nine MariaDB instances into a single HeatWave MySQL instance, cut costs by 64 percent, increased performance by over 30X, and improved productivity with automation. Great results all around.”
LAC is a leading cybersecurity company in Japan with hundreds of customers, including large banks and insurance companies. The performance of the company’s threat intelligence platform, powered by MariaDB on Amazon EC2,was decreasing as the amount of data collected was increasing. Costs were rapidly rising as LAC needed to upgrade to larger EC2 instances to maintain performance levels. After implementing Oracle HeatWave MySQL on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), the company consolidated nine MariaDB instances into a single HeatWave MySQL instance. The result was simpler data management operations and improved operational efficiency with the managed database service. Queries that required over an hour to complete with MariaDB on AWS were executed in less than 2 minutes with HeatWave MySQL on OCI. The company also saw a 64% reduction in costs after the migration.
