Litoplas grows production with Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications

Connecting manufacturing data across countries

Founded in 1967 and based in Barranquilla, Colombia, Litoplas designs, develops, and produces flexible packaging for food, snack, confectionery, health, and hygiene brands throughout the Americas. As the manufacturer expanded internationally, it needed a more consistent way to manage production, maintenance, inventory, purchasing, and financial performance across plants. Older on-premises systems made it harder for teams to work from the same data, apply common controls, and make quick decisions as operations grew beyond Colombia. After seeing success with Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Litoplas extended its use of the Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite with Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain and Manufacturing. The goal was to create a standard operating model that the company could apply across locations, including its expansion into Guatemala.

Standard processes support international growth

With Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, Litoplas was able to connect manufacturing, maintenance, purchasing, inventory, and finance teams on a common cloud platform. That foundation now helps the company manage policies, approvals, requisitions, and accounting processes across plants while enabling its administrative team in Colombia to support the Guatemala operation remotely. Oracle also helped Litoplas reduce its reliance on aging on-premises infrastructure. The company valued Oracle’s cloud architecture and quarterly application updates, which give teams access to new capabilities without the disruption of large, infrequent system upgrades. The connected platform also gave managers a more immediate view of business performance. Instead of waiting for month-end reporting, teams can monitor profitability daily and use current operational and financial data to make decisions faster.

Maintenance planning adds production capacity

With Oracle Fusion Supply Chain Execution, Litoplas was able to automate maintenance planning and increase machine availability by up to 6%, adding 16 to 18 production days per year and increasing annual billing by about COL$4,500 million, or US$1.1 million. The company also eliminated more than 160 hours, or about 13 days, of unplanned corrective maintenance each month. With better data across accounting, operations, and manufacturing, Litoplas can forecast maintenance needs more accurately and plan out work orders earlier. It has also been able to reduce its total maintenance budget by 15%. Those improvements contributed to a 40% increase in production, helping Litoplas meet greater demand while improving the way teams plan machine time, maintenance work, and operational priorities.

Warehouse data improves inventory decisions

Using Oracle Fusion Cloud Warehouse Management, Litoplas improved warehouse performance and gave teams more reliable inventory data. In fact, inventory reliability increased from 57% to 96%, while inventory accuracy improved from 96% to 99.9%. The company also reduced preparation and staging times by 20% and cut picking and packing transaction times in half. Those gains helped Litoplas maintain a 95% operational efficiency rate while supporting product availability and quality for customers. Litoplas has also connected Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications with its proprietary manufacturing system, linking shop floor operations with Oracle Fusion Cloud Order Management, Oracle Fusion Cloud Inventory Management, and Oracle Fusion Cloud Procurement. Those integrations automate data flows across maintenance, supply chain, sales, and finance so all teams can work from the same information.

AI summaries help teams spend less time compiling data

Litoplas is beginning to use the AI capabilities built into Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, including AI-generated supplier questions, supplier knowledge chat, and purchase order summarization. Over time, the company plans to apply AI to production sequencing, conversational data access, and supply chain prediction. The aim is to help employees spend less time gathering information and more time on analysis, planning, and business decisions.
