Renesas Electronics is a global provider of semiconductors that are used in a wide range of applications, including automotive, industrial, infrastructure, and IoT applications. Previously, the company used Oracle Exadata Database Machine in its data center, reducing the complexity of database management and gaining faster performance compared with its existing on-premises systems. Renesas subsequently moved its workloads to Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, offloading infrastructure management to Oracle and gaining cloud automation and consumption-based pricing benefits within its data center. As Renesas added products and expanded globally, it needed to scale its systems faster and improve the connectivity between its headquarters in Japan and design centers in Germany. Renesas migrated its database workloads to Oracle Exadata Database Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to gain even greater elasticity, continuous availability, and cloud automation capabilities.
