Based in Haryana, India, and founded in 1987, Sandhar Technologies began as an indigenous supplier of sheet metal components to Hero Motocorp (then known as Hero Honda Motors).
Today, Sandhar supplies a wide range of automotive components to 79 Indian and offshore automotive OEMs, including Hero, TVS, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Honda, and Volvo. Its main focus is automotive locking and security systems. Sandhar is the world’s largest two-wheeler lock manufacturer, as well as a leading rear-view mirror manufacturer for commercial vehicles in India. It also makes automotive visions systems, stampings, operator cabins, polymers, and other products.
Under Sandhar's customer-centric approach, the company builds its manufacturing facilities—40 in all, in India and abroad—as close to its customers’ manufacturing plants as possible.
But what sets Sandhar apart from its competitors also is its most significant challenge. With such a diverse product portfolio and manufacturing plants spread across geographies, streamlining back-office systems becomes critical.
The company struggled with processing information generated by disparate finance and supply chain applications across departments. Sandhar needed a single source of truth to optimize and standardize those processes and ultimately accelerate and improve company decision-making.
Oracle Cloud ERP gave us a next-generation ERP application in the cloud that supports our aggressive growth plans and digital transformation strategy.

Already a customer of the Oracle E-Business Suite of on-premises applications for more than a decade, Oracle was the natural partner for Sandhar’s move to a more modern, regularly updated cloud environment. The completeness of the Oracle Clouid ERP suite further helped tilt the scales in favor of Oracle.
Another factor that influenced Sandhar’s decision was that Oracle Cloud SCM comes embedded with AI and machine learning capabilities, helping the company to innovate and scale its value chain quickly.
Sandhar was able to go live with Oracle Cloud ERP in three of its plants in just 11 weeks, extending the cloud service to all 40 of its plants within a year. In January 2019, Sandhar became Oracle’s first cloud ERP customer in the Indian manufacturing sector. “We were surprised to realize that it was so convenient to scale operations with cloud,” says Sanjay Maindiratta, head of IT.
Sandhar’s senior management appreciated how Oracle’s team worked with its IT team to understand Sandhar’s business and management’s concerns before implementing the applications. “The functional and technical support we got from Oracle was tremendous,” Maindiratta says.
Oracle Cloud ERP and Oracle Cloud SCM allowed Sandhar to standardize and fully automate financial business flows and processes across its entire manufacturing supply chain.
Sandhar estimates that its implementation of Oracle Cloud applications allowed it to improve its overall business efficiency by 30%; cut the time it takes to consolidate financial reports by 50%; eliminate the cost of maintaining and upgrading an on-premises data center.
The cloud applications also allowed Sandhar’s IT team to spend more quality time on innovative projects rather than on routine support and maintenance tasks. Sandhar estimates that the Oracle applications also helped it reduce network costs by 50% and operating expenses by about 20%.
With Oracle Cloud ERP and Supply Chain, we now have a complete and flexible solution that supports resilience, agility, innovation, and growth for our business. We now have connected business processes that have improved our efficiency.
