Westfield Insurance is a global property and casualty insurer that’s grown from serving a small farming community when it was founded in 1848 to an A-rated insurance leader with revenues in excess of $4 billion and more than $11 billion in assets. Throughout that expansion, Westfield’s human resources team was working with manual processes using multiple legacy HR human resources platforms, some of which were more than 20 years old. Why Westfield Insurance chose Oracle

Westfield’s multiple legacy systems meant HR processes relied on a lot of manual work. The combination of siloed systems and inefficient processes hurt the employee experience and created compliance and security challenges as the company expanded internationally.

Westfield chose Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) due to its industry-leading capabilities, cloud-based architecture, integration benefits, and alignment with the company’s goals to improve HR operations and user experiences. The ability to replace multiple legacy systems with a single, integrated platform on Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM was a major factor in the company’s decision.

Other enhancements that Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM provide included better access to data and information, improved employee and manager experiences, enhanced compliance and security features, and built-in AI capabilities. The platform's ability to support Westfield's growth agenda by scaling along with the business was another key consideration.

Results

Westfield partnered with Accenture to implement Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM. The company now has access to real-time data for decision-making and operates more effectively using more automated processes. The compliance and data security features of Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM helped Westfield to expand internationally and efficiently while addressing key regulatory requirements, such as GDPR, during its growth and acquisition activities.

The data and insights available through Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM helped Westfield make more strategic talent decisions. The company also increased productivity and efficiency in its talent area, including decreased time to hire. The platform’s user-friendly interface—with more intuitive processes through features such as employee and manager self-service—enhanced the employee experience, which helped in recruiting new talent to the organization. Easier access to data gives managers more visibility into talent management, recruiting, and performance information.

The company is excited about the potential to use generative AI capabilities within Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM to further improve strategic workforce planning, candidate screening, skill matching, and the overall recruiting process. “Those are things that we are working on now, implementing and testing, and I think will have significant impact in the future,” says Palmieri.

Accenture helped the organization navigate legacy systems and provided guidance on strategic capabilities, aided in change management, and offered ongoing support. “The partners that we had at both Accenture and Oracle have just been wonderful on the journey,” says Palmieri. “I always know that if I have any issue, I know exactly who to call. That to me is honestly invaluable.”
