“Oracle’s Document Understanding has eliminated the risk of errors and improved our customers’ experience with more timely processing of their purchase orders.”
Dilend ChawdaGeneral Manager, Finance and ICT, Rinnai Australia

Rinnai Australia, a maker and distributor of water and space-heating systems, processes more than 120,000 orders each year, most of which are received as emails or scanned documents. The inconsistent formatting and unstructured information in those orders often required staff to enter data manually, increasing the risk of errors and delaying product deliveries.

To address this issue, Rinnai adopted Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Document Understanding to extract the unstructured data—such as tables, signatures, and bar codes—from the company’s various order formats and templates. Alongside this information, the AI service pulls in key order line items to automatically generate a standardized document within Rinnai’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP application. Since utilizing OCI Document Understanding, which runs on Oracle Autonomous AI Database and is complemented by Oracle Analytics, Rinnai has reduced the manual processing of orders by 20%. This process has helped improve data accuracy while freeing staff to do higher-value work.
