Business challenges

Litoplas, a leading Colombian company that manufactures plastics packaging for food, health, and hygiene products, has more than 50 years in the market. It currently exports its products to countries such as Guatemala, Venezuela, and Panama. Its Colombian production plant is located in Barranquilla, where it employs more than 600 people.

The manufacturer maintains state-of-the-art machinery and world-class standards to meet customer needs. Additionally, to reduce its impact on the environment, the company provides solutions for more sustainable packaging for its customers.

In the 1980s, Litoplas created its own software, but over the years, limitations began to emerge, and the organization decided to acquire an enterprisewide enterprise resource planning solution.

Why Litoplas Chose Oracle

After Oracle presented Litoplas with the roadmap for Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, the company decided to take advantage of the state-of-the-art technology and retain competitive advantages.

Company leaders realized they would gain huge operational savings with Oracle Cloud, which eliminates the need to redeploy software each time there is an update. And most importantly, the cloud solution synced with the company’s existing finance module.

Results

Oracle Cloud ERP has brought multiple business benefits. Prior to Oracle's solution, Litoplas met its customers’ delivery deadlines about 85% to 95% of the time. Now that number always exceeds 95%. This improvement is one of the main advantages to implementing an asset-maintenance planning process. After centralizing processes, the company improved the staff hours per machine and boosted fulfillment rates.

In addition, Litoplas was able to implement a maintenance availability indicator, which was key to getting better efficiency and visibility into root cause analysis and corrective maintenance.

Oracle Maintenance Cloud made it possible for the company to analyze the cost of work orders, improve the traceability of resources, and upload documents and manuals for each of the 75 machines that the company owns.

Finally, during the pandemic, company engineers could plan maintenance from home using Oracle Cloud ERP, allowing Litoplas to continue operating.
