Oracle’s partnership with Microsoft gives you more choice for multicloud architecture. By securely connecting OCI and Microsoft Azure over low-latency Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure and simplifying access to enterprise-grade Oracle databases with Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure, customers can use the best capabilities of both clouds.
Building on our continued strategy of innovating with multicloud, we are pleased to announce Oracle Database Service for Azure.
Choose the best cloud provider for your applications and databases. Run mission-critical enterprise workloads across OCI and Microsoft Azure.
Build new applications by combining Azure services with the high performance, high availability, and automated management of Oracle Database services on OCI.
Quickly and easily use Azure applications with highly available Oracle autonomous databases that provision, tune, secure, and scale.
“Having access to data in multiple clouds is something we’ve always wanted. Oracle Database Service for Azure would enable FedEx to use Oracle databases on OCI with big data and analytics capabilities of Azure.”
Executive Vice President, FedEx Corporation
“Multicloud architectures enable us to choose the best cloud provider for each workload based on capabilities, performance, and price. The OCI and Azure partnership integrates the capabilities of two major cloud providers, including OCI’s Oracle Database services and Azure's application development capabilities.”
CTO, Marriott International
“Innovation is core to GE, and multicloud deployments enable us to innovate at scale. With Oracle Database services, we will be able to use highly available Oracle databases across cloud providers without refactoring our applications.”
CIO, GE Renewable Energy
“Many of our mission-critical workloads are running Oracle databases on-premises at massive scale. As we move these workloads to the cloud, Oracle Database Service for Azure enables us to modernize these Oracle databases to services such as Autonomous Database in OCI while leveraging Microsoft Azure for the application tier.”
“As a customer, we reap significant benefits from this level of cooperation between Oracle and Microsoft.”
Senior Director of Infrastructure and Operations, Integra LifeSciences
With Oracle Autonomous Database and the Oracle Cloud and Microsoft Azure Interconnect, MESTEC cut its labor and infrastructure costs in half compared to its on-premises environment, and workloads run up to 600% faster with half as many CPUs.
“We’ve connected an Azure Kubernetes cluster to our Oracle RAC database in Oracle Cloud, and the two millisecond latency is even less than we experienced with our previous hosting provider.”
CEO, Soho Media Solutions
With the OCI-Azure Interconnect, Snap Vision is able to run testing and development on Azure and production-ready workloads on OCI. The company finds that Oracle’s partnership with Microsoft makes a multicloud approach easier and was able to drop hosting costs by 40%.
Oracle and Microsoft are leading the way by delivering multicloud solutions that automate the most common provisioning tasks.
The OCI-Azure cloud collaboration shows the industry how multicloud should be done.
Oracle Database Service for Azure provides Azure users with the familiar Azure interface to both Azure and OCI resources.
Oracle Database Service for Azure is an Oracle-managed multicloud service that enables customers to easily set up and use high performance, scalable Oracle databases running on OCI for their Azure applications. Azure customers can easily deploy Oracle Database running on OCI through the Oracle Database Service for Azure portal using a streamlined experience for establishing low latency OCI-Azure connectivity, virtual networks, and federated identity management. Database logs and metrics from OCI integrate into Azure to simplify monitoring and management. Customers can initiate support requests for the environment through either Microsoft or Oracle.
By using Oracle FastConnect and Azure ExpressRoute, customers can seamlessly build a private interconnection between their OCI and Microsoft Azure environments. The Oracle Interconnect for Azure also enables joint customers to take advantage of a unified identity and access management platform that leads to cost savings. Cloud engineers can set up single sign-on (SSO) between Microsoft Azure and OCI for their Oracle applications, such as PeopleSoft and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. Having a federated SSO makes the integration seamless and lets users authenticate only once to access multiple applications, without signing in separately to access each application.
Oracle Cloud and Microsoft Azure Interconnect offer a seamless issue resolution process that can be initiated through Microsoft or Oracle when an issue is encountered. Oracle delivers support directly to customers with Oracle software licenses who are running Oracle software on Microsoft Hyper-V and Microsoft Azure.
With Oracle Database Service for Azure, your database resources reside in an OCI account that’s linked to your Azure account through an Oracle-managed private cross-cloud interconnect. To use Oracle Database Service for Azure, you need a current Azure account.
Today at Microsoft Inspire, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, and Larry Ellison, chairman and CTO of Oracle Corporation, announced the availability of Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure.
