Sustainability at CloudWorld

Embedding sustainability into our business—and our events
At Oracle, sustainability is serious business. We’ve set a goal to run our global operations with 100% renewable energy by 2025, including Oracle Cloud data centers, and to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Our innovations extend across sustainable cloud operations and applications that help our customers run their own businesses at lower costs and with less energy use.
Oracle CloudWorld aligns many of our current and long-standing initiatives with priorities outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Our sustainability goals for CloudWorld 2023 include promoting zero waste and targeting zero waste to landfill, decreasing total event emissions, giving back to local organizations, and inspiring attendees with engaging sustainability experiences. Read on to learn about our plans to create a sustainable event in 2023 and see our results from last year.
Sustainability initiatives at CloudWorld 2023
See the steps we’re taking to minimize our impact on the planet and support local communities.
-
Targeting zero waste
In the CloudWorld Hub, you’ll see digital offerings instead of printed collateral, aisles free of carpet, and booths built using recyclable or reusable materials. We use compostable serviceware at meals and provide water refill stations to replace single-use plastics.
-
Reducing carbon
To minimize CloudWorld’s carbon footprint, we selected a LEED Gold-certified venue that participates in water conservation efforts and sources 100% of its energy from renewables, including solar and wind. In addition, on-site attendee meals do not include beef.
-
Reusing and giving back
Leftover food and office supplies are donated to non-profit organizations. Signage, vinyl, and fabric are upcycled by art programs at local schools. We also support The Venetian’s partnership with Clean the World’s Hospitality Recycling Program.
