Teamwork is at the Center of the Golden State Warriors Cloud Strategy

Golden State Warriors CFO Jennifer Cabalquinto looks to Oracle Netsuite ERP Cloud to provide a single source of information that everyone in the office trusts.

Q&A with Golden State Warriors CFO Jennifer Cabalquinto

What would you say is the main goal for your finance operations?

The most important goal for the business operations is to support the basketball operations, so they have all the resources they need to be able to perform on the court. And a big part of that is making sure that we provide our ownership group and our management team all the insights that they need to make the best decisions for the business, for our fans, and for the community. That’s the thing about a sports team like the Golden State Warriors. It’s not just a business, it’s also a community asset. Having multiple stakeholders is something that we always have to be mindful of, and that’s where having that transparency and being able to get to information very quickly is really important to us.

What motivated you to move to the cloud?

We really wanted to simplify the processes for the Golden State Warriors. We’re growing so fast, but we’re still essentially a small business. So moving to the cloud allowed us to simplify the workflow while still maintaining the details and controls that we need. That was the reason that we wanted to move towards a cloud-based system—having that transparency and access to all the data, when we need it.

Right now we’re a sports team, but in a few years we’re going to be a sports and entertainment company with other investments throughout our space. And so having a system that could grow with us and be as innovative as we are was really important, because we’re going to be doing a lot of things in the future that we aren’t doing today.

So far, what are you seeing as the biggest benefit you’ve gained from Oracle Netsuite ERP Cloud?

For the Golden State Warriors, Oracle Netsuite ERP Cloud has really streamlined our workflows, modernized our back-office processes, made us much more efficient, and made data very transparent and easy to get to, which allows us more time to do analysis and value-added work. It’s really provided a single source of information that everyone in the office trusts.
