Access World, based in Switzerland, provides logistics and warehousing for metals, renewable-energy equipment, and large-scale industrial cargo in 30 countries. As the company grew rapidly, a major challenge was managing its complex global operations on more than 150 unconnected legacy systems and some manual processes. Access World standardized on Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM),   Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM) applications to consolidate data from disparate parts of the organization, automate key processes, and help improve data security. The company sees the Oracle Fusion Cloud suite as the foundation for future growth, giving its HR, finance, and supply chain teams access to the latest data and dramatically reducing manual tasks.

Why Access World chose Oracle

Access World wanted an integrated suite of cloud applications to help support its global expansion, enhance data security, and give teams in different departments access to consistent, real-time data sets to help them make better decisions. After considering other vendors, most of whose applications would have required costly business reengineering, Access World selected Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications—HCM, ERP, and SCM—for their robust security and ability to integrate with one another natively. The company also valued the fact that the cloud applications can be easily scaled up and down, are regularly updated with the latest AI and other capabilities, and can be configured to grant different levels of access and approval authority by role.

Access World also appreciated the support from Oracle Consulting Services during the implementation phase and on an ongoing basis, giving the company a clear path to digital modernization.

Results

Access World’s Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications implementation delivered improvements across HR, finance, and supply chain processes.

Previously, the company tracked records for its more than 2,000 employees in 30 countries on Excel spreadsheets, with no global visibility. Today, all employee-related data is centralized in Oracle Cloud HCM applications, improving the experience for employees, who benefit from more automation and a modern interface, as well as for managers, who benefit from streamlined workflows.

Using Oracle Cloud ERP, the Access World finance team can now report results from each financial close almost instantaneously, compared with about eight hours previously, providing insights that senior managers across the organization can act upon. Supply chain managers used to pore over spreadsheets for inventory and transaction data; now, with Oracle Cloud SCM, they can view that data in real time.

Meantime, the Fusion Cloud suite is giving Access World stronger security and compliance controls. And the single set of scalable, unified applications lets the company onboard new acquisitions more quickly, supporting its global expansion.

Looking ahead, Access World is interested in using the advanced data analytics and other AI capabilities built into its HCM and SCM applications to create new revenue streams, such as offering customers data-related services (data as a service). And the move to Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications has allowed the company’s IT organization to shift its focus from maintaining systems to supporting business innovation and new revenue streams, such as providing logistics data services to customers.
