Business challenges

Nynas, a Swedish manufacturer of naphthenic specialty oils and bitumen products used for paving and other industrial applications, manually filled in spreadsheets and Word documents to manage human resources processes, including performance evaluations. As these processes became tedious and time-consuming, it was clear that integrating all HR data under one platform was imperative. Digitizing HR operations would also support the company’s sustainability goals.

Like many companies in the manufacturing industry, Nynas struggled to find, attract, and retain top talent with specific technical competencies. To create a seamless experience for candidates, the company required a solution that would enable the digitization of each stage of the HR lifecycle, from recruiting to onboarding to talent management, including employee analytics.

The company required detailed reporting and analytics capabilities to monitor both staff and organizational performance. This would enable Nynas to find areas with room for improvement as well as make faster workforce decisions.

Why Nynas chose Oracle

After reviewing market offerings—including Cornerstone OnDemand and Workday—Nynas selected Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management because it offered the necessary features to unify HR processes under one integrated platform and accommodate 1,000 employees across 30-plus countries. The ease of use and detailed reporting capabilities were key factors that influenced the decision to choose Oracle.

A user of Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Oracle Hyperion, Nynas identified Oracle Cloud HCM as the ideal solution because of its competitive pricing and quarterly software updates, which help ensure that the organization has the latest features.

Results

After deploying Oracle Cloud HCM, Nynas consolidated HR data and processes for 1,000 employees. Powered by a single source of truth, the company digitized its performance evaluations, compensations, as well as recruitment and onboarding. The migration saved both time and paperwork to help meet the company’s sustainability targets. The organization reported FTE savings, which was re-invested in more value-added tasks. Improved management of HR operations and increased agility to react to changes in the local labor market were further enhancements.

Using Oracle Talent Management, the company gained end-to-end control over each stage of the talent lifecycle. Taking advantage of the automation capabilities offered by Oracle Recruiting, Nynas streamlined job postings, candidate communication, and screening.

The industrial manufacturer also adopted Oracle Career Development—a module of Oracle Talent Management—to create development plans for its new hires, which include goals, tasks, and target outcomes. In parallel, the organization took advantage of Oracle Journeys to deliver employee journeys based on actions, roles, location. This helped to increase the company’s employee engagement and retention.

With detailed reports and insights into employee performance offered by Oracle Performance Management , Nynas aligned employee growth plans to company objectives and built the workforce that it needed. The organization used Oracle Compensation to analyze, model, budget, and administer numerous compensation plans across more than 25 countries for employees, based on jobs and location.

Fueled by in-depth analytics into employee performance, Nynas turned to the Oracle Succession Planning Module and its visual dashboard to secure its next generation of leaders. This helped the company make faster and better-informed decisions to support business efficiency and growth.

In addition, Nynas deployed Oracle HR Help Desk—a unified service request management solution—to reduce the dependency on its IT department and empower employees to quickly find reliable answers to any inquiry without the risk of data leaks. HR Help Desk proved to be especially valuable during the pandemic when the volume of inquiries into the Nynas HR department surged.

The move to Oracle Cloud helped the company improve data integrity and substantially improve employee satisfaction.
