“By upgrading and migrating our mission-critical systems to Oracle AI Database 26ai on Exadata Cloud@Customer, database processing performance improved dramatically, with cumulative SQL execution time falling by around 40%.”
Panasonic Digital, a professional services unit of Panasonic Group, needed to modernize a mission-critical database that supports a customer’s used car trading platform in Japan. Data volumes for transactions on the platform—which involve dealers, agents, and individual buyers and sellers—have nearly tripled in five years, surpassing 10 terabytes.
Panasonic Digital migrated the customer’s database from Oracle Database 19c, running on premises on Oracle Exadata machines, to Oracle AI Database 26ai on Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer. The company chose this option, which still runs within its data center, to gain cloud scalability without interrupting transactions that are ongoing 24/7. This hybrid cloud migration also establishes a path for future use of Oracle’s agentic AI capabilities.
Panasonic Digital moved about 10 TB of the customer’s data to the 26ai database in roughly 2.5 hours using a refreshable clone PDB, with minimal disruption. As a result, cumulative SQL execution time fell by around 40%, peak period execution time dropped by roughly 20%, and operational costs decreased by about 30%.
