This VM provides the components and exercises you can use to become more familiar with the process of installing and using Oracle Enterprise Manager to manage the MySQL environment. To prepare your system, you will need to install the virtual guest appliance that provides pre-configured Oracle software

This one virtualbox image contains all the software and guides you need for the Hands-on Exercise. Please note: the image is around 16.7GB (as it includes a fully set up EM environment), so you should download VirtualBox and import the image before the event starts.

Step 1. Download and install Oracle VM VirtualBox on your host system. (Note: virtualization works best with contiguous space so it is a good idea if on Windows to run a defrag program, and make sure you are using NTFS for your file system to handle large files on Windows. ).

Step 2. Follow the link below and agree to the OTN license agreement and download the OVA file.

Step 3. Import your VM: File > Import Appliance to launch Appliance Import Wizard.

Click Choose... to browse to the directory you downloaded in and select the HOL9235.ova then click Next> to begin importing the virtual machine. It will prompt you to agree to the appropriate developer licenses while importing. You will see ‘HOL9235 (Powered Off)' when it is finished importing.

Step 4. Test your VM: Once the import has completed, double-click the HOL9235 VM. Click OK to close the Virtualbox Information dialogs. When you get to the Enterprise Linux 5 screen you can now login. (Username is oracle and the password is welcome1). Allow the process to complete; it is ready when you see a text edit window with README instructions, including information on all of the logins for the various installed components.

Step 5. To start OEM before the hands on lab, please run the start_all.sh on the desktop. This will start the required Oracle Database, Enterprise Manager OMS, and Agent. This step can take a little time to complete, so please ensure this is done before starting the hands on lab.
