How do I create the interconnect?

You can initiate the resource creation through either AWS or the OCI console. Configuration will need to be performed on both cloud service provider consoles to complete the creation process.

Who can create an interconnect resource?

Any customer with an active tenancy that has a valid Oracle Universal Credit commitment or pay-as-you-go subscription can create a virtual circuit that uses the interconnect.

How does this relate to or compare to OCI FastConnect?

The interconnect utilizes Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) FastConnect and AWS Direct Connect technologies to build a fully managed connectivity offering directly between AWS Direct Connect and OCI FastConnect physical locations. This allows customers to quickly and easily provision interconnect connections between the two clouds without relying on manually configuring complicated physical connections and routing protocols. This will all be automatically managed by AWS and OCI.

How is Oracle Interconnect for AWS different from the Oracle interconnects with Azure and Google Cloud Platform?

The OCI-AWS interconnect uses the new open API specification developed by AWS to coordinate managed L3 connectivity.

In what regions is the OCI-AWS interconnect available?

The interconnect is available in the United States, in OCI’s US East region in Ashburn, Virginia, and AWS’s US East region, also in Ashburn, Virginia. Oracle plans to expand availability to additional regions.

What bandwidth configurations are available?

Customers can create virtual circuits with the following port configuration options: 1 GB/sec, 2 GB/sec, 5 GB/sec, 10 GB/sec, 20 GB/sec, 50 GB/sec, and 100 GB/sec.

What will Oracle Interconnect for AWS cost?

The limited availability is free. Pricing will be announced closer to GA. The standard OCI FastConnect pricing applies. There will be no egress charges.
