Disconnected systems slowed collaboration after acquisitions

Since 1957, Cohu has been a trusted name in semiconductor equipment manufacturing. Through acquisitions, the company built a diverse portfolio, but each acquisition brought its own operational systems and processes.

Over time, Cohu managed a patchwork of legacy tools for finance, supply chain, procurement, and HR—sometimes even multiple systems within the same region. Forecasting and reporting required reconciling disparate information, which added friction to day-to-day work.

Cohu’s leadership wanted to support “One Cohu” with more unified technology and more consistent processes.

Moving to Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications

Cohu adopted Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite and deployed Oracle Cloud Finance and Accounting, Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Management, and Oracle Cloud Human Resources to replace disconnected systems with a single cloud platform.

Cohu also used Oracle Integration to connect in-house, SaaS, and on-premises tools, reducing reliance on multiple vendors and shrinking data silos. Quarterly updates from Oracle deliver new capabilities without disruption.

Operational improvements across teams

After unifying processes and operations, Cohu reported changes across finance, engineering, and supply chain operations, including:

  • Automated, real-time reporting: Leaders access unified data on work orders, invoices, and procurement, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Streamlined engineering change orders: With standardized workflows, managers—such as those in Malaysia—avoid juggling different systems, improving accuracy.
  • Transparent supplier quality data: Teams resolve issues earlier, preventing production delays.
  • Integrated lead-to-order cycles: Oracle Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) in Oracle Fusion Cloud Sales tightly coordinates sales and operations.
  • Enhanced service experience: Oracle Fusion Service and Field Service enable technicians to address customer needs promptly, even for specialized equipment.

Drill down on product lifecycle management

For Cohu, the use of Oracle Fusion Cloud PLM in its supply chain creates a more connected approach to managing product information across engineering, manufacturing, and quality. The continuous digital thread enables tighter coordination across the product lifecycle rather than disconnected handoffs between teams.

This helps Cohu manage change more consistently, improve visibility across functions, and support a smoother path from design through production. Alignment, across teams and products, supports execution as the business scales.

What this enabled for the business

Cohu's leaders, engineers, and supply chain teams can make decisions with a more unified view of operations and can manage quality and delivery more proactively. The company also reported that newly acquired businesses integrate faster, and field service responds more quickly to customer needs.

Customers benefit from faster, smoother order flows—from sales to production to field service—which helps accelerate delivery and reduce delays. Teams across the business can focus more on innovation and customer engagement instead of legacy system maintenance.
