We look at our relationship with Oracle as very symbiotic. We can learn from them in terms of what the best practices are, and in turn, provide them insight into the growing needs of a manufacturing organization so they can make their products even better.

India-based manufacturer Raychem RPG aims to triple its sales with a lineup of products that support critical infrastructure across sectors including energy, oil and gas, transportation, construction, mining, and shipping. Yet the company’s ability to scale and expand was limited by disjointed systems that took a long time to process critical tasks, such as giving a customer a sales quote or issuing a purchase order to a supplier. Slow data retrieval and processing from aging on-premises applications hampered decision-making. Raychem RPG implemented Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications for ERP, SCM, and CX to better support its growth, helping departments better collaborate and share information. This led to successes such as 25% faster response to competitive bids.

Why Raychem RPG chose Oracle

Raychem RPG is a 50/50 joint venture between RPG Enterprises in India and US-based TE Connectivity. Its products include cable management and connection systems, electrical safety equipment, transformers, gas flow meters, and railway electrification components. To support its growth ambitions, the company wanted a single platform that could unify various business functions, eliminate multiple applications that were doing similar tasks, and allow for more timely and relevant data analysis.

Raychem RPG chose Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Oracle Customer Experience (CX), including Oracle Sales, to give the business a centralized data repository for faster and more accurate decision-making. The integrated system would allow Raychem RPG to see sales leads in a customer relationship management system, track quotations through Oracle’s configure-price-quote (CPQ) application, assist supply chain teams in forecasting lead time, and help manufacturing operations better plan production schedules. The suite also offered Raychem RPG advanced features such as embedded AI and industry best practices built into the applications, which help improve Raychem RPG’s business processes. The company also chose to work with Oracle Consulting for its deep manufacturing knowledge and its experience implementing the Oracle Fusion Cloud Application suite.

Results

Using the Fusion Cloud integrated suite of applications helped Raychem RPG dramatically improve data management and align its IT strategy with the company’s sales growth plans. The company streamlined business processes, such as reducing the time from purchase requisition to purchase order from five days to nearly instantaneous. It improved its competitive bidding response times by 25% and increased automation for purchase orders, legal contracts, and supplier qualifications processes.

Enhanced data quality and faster retrieval improved visibility across sales, supply chain, and manufacturing processes, and helped Raychem RPG become a more responsive business. Previously, these departments operated in silos with limited data sharing. With Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, SCM, and CX, they now have a connected process from customer lead generation to product delivery. The CRM and CPQ capabilities in Oracle Cloud CX let sales teams track customer leads and generate quotes more efficiently. Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM provided supply chain teams with real-time visibility into sales quotes and order data, helping to increase accuracy in product lead time forecasting and inventory planning. Simultaneously, the manufacturing team could access new quotes and orders to understand exact customer product requirements, which helped with planning production schedules more precisely. All of these benefits combined allowed Raychem RPG to respond to customers more effectively and armed company leaders with data to make more timely and informed decisions that directly impacted profitability, such as whether to manufacture a product internally or buy from a supplier.

The implementation's impact extended beyond operational metrics to reshape how Raychem's teams work and interact, resulting in a more collaborative and responsive organization. Previously, staffers had to spend hours downloading data from multiple systems and transferring information to spreadsheets before they could try to compile meaningful insights. By the time they processed the data, it was often outdated. Automating data processing reduced the administrative burden on employees and provided them with more meaningful and timely information to perform their jobs.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications delivered a scalable platform for growth, along with a pathway to new AI innovations and process automation improvements. Raychem RPG is exploring Oracle AI agents with a focus on agents in manufacturing operations, including quality management, process control, and manufacturing automation.
