The City of Olathe, Kansas, has more than 125,000 residents and is the fourth largest city in the state. As the nation’s second-ranked digital city, Olathe optimizes technology to work more efficiently and better serve its residents.

Challenges and Solutions

Olathe wanted to upgrade its JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environment to enhance services for its residents while reducing IT costs and increasing operational efficiencies. It worked with Oracle Partner iXtend, Inc. to deploy JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0 and upgrade its related IT infrastructure with the goal of ensuring continued support, while reducing long-term total cost of ownership and increasing its return on investment. With the new environment, Olathe can decrease IT maintenance costs, while improving service. It is also implementing additional JD Edwards EnterpriseOne self-service modules for human resources, benefits enrollment, and performance evaluation. The city hopes to leverage the full-functionality of its JD Edwards 9.0 environment to reduce employee administrative burdens and increase time spent providing services to its residents.
