Challenges

A word from Indústria de Produtos Alimentícios Piraquê S.A.

  • “With Oracle Exadata we have solved our physical and digital storage space problems for the next ten years. In addition, we have achieved an 80% to 90% improvement in the performance of our IT environment, and this has triggered improved processes in areas such as logistics and accounting.” – Clébio Freitas Lopes, IT Manager, Indústria de Produtos Alimentícios Piraquê S.A.

  • Achieve IT infrastructure scalability to enable sales growth up to 12% per year without impacting the monthly production of 7,500 tons of pastas, cookies, and margarines
  • Acquire a data storage architecture to support the company’s growth for at least the next five years
  • Accelerate the processing of 4,000 daily orders to avoid product delivery delays

Solutions

  • Worked with Oracle Partner MarkWay to install an Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exadata Storage Server architecture, providing Piraquê with high performance and scalability to absorb a projected sales growth of 10% to 12% per year
  • Solved the company’s physical and digital data storage space problem—which pushed the servers to their limits—with Oracle Exadata, providing an environment with the capacity for Piraquê’s data storage and IT system needs for the next ten years
  • Achieved a 100% on-time delivery rate in the state of Rio de Janeiro, where more than 85% of Piraquê’s customers are concentrated and where all orders need next-day delivery
  • Attained immediate responses for critical processes—such as reducing the time required for annual sales consolidation and costing from approximately 90 minutes to less than 6 minutes
  • Expedited data processing by 80% to 90% and consequently accelerated all processes triggered by the digital information, such as logistics, accounting, and executive decision-making
  • Maintained uniformity in the company’s IT environment, since the architecture, database, operating system, the company’s ERP system (using Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports), and development tools are all Oracle products
