Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS)
Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) provides a secure, governed Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint for connecting MCP-compatible clients, hosts, and agent frameworks to the Oracle AI Database.
With ORDS MCP, AI clients can discover approved Oracle AI Database connections, inspect schema metadata, and run SQL through a focused set of MCP server tools provided by ORDS.
ORDS also continues to provide a proven REST API platform for Oracle AI Database, helping developers build web, mobile, microservice, and automation applications from the same secure database access layer. Additionally ORDS powers our Vector Database, Oracle Backend for Firebase (BaaS), and Database API for MongoDB services.
Sphere shaved months off back-end development time by quickly mapping their data models to an Oracle Autonomous Database using Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS). This allowed Sphere developers to easily connect their React and Angular front ends with data and stored procedures via ORDS APIs.

Key Features
Enable governed AI access with MCP
ORDS delivers MCP Tools to allow AI systems to discover available Oracle AI Database connections, to gather schema information for those databases which enables more accurate NL2SQL, and for execute SQL and PL/SQL scripts.
Secure AI access to Enterprise Data
ORDS MCP helps organizations bring trusted Oracle AI Database data into AI workflows with enterprise-grade security and governance. Integrates with your existing identity provider (JWT). AI clients and agents can access only approved database resources, while activity remains traceable and accountable.
REST APIs
Built for Oracle’s converged database, ORDS rapidly turns database objects, SQL, and PL/SQL into secure, scalable REST APIs—without proprietary frameworks or libraries.ORDS accelerates development with JSON serialization, filtering, sorting, pagination, dynamic parameters, error mapping, and OpenAPI documentation. It supports custom endpoints, OAuth 2.0, JWT, role-based authorization, GeoJSON, CSV, and binary media—keeping business logic close to the data.
SQL Developer Web
Database Actions brings you your favorite Oracle Database desktop tool’s features and experience to your browser! Delivered as a single-page web application, Database Actions is powered by Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS).
Database API
Provides the ability to perform Oracle Database management and monitoring operations through a user-friendly REST API. Depending on the database version and configuration, ORDS database APIs provide services such as manage pluggable databases, export data, and review database performance.
Oracle API for MongoDB
Oracle Database API for MongoDB translates the MongoDB wire protocol into SQL statements that are executed by Oracle Database. It lets developers who have MongoDB skill sets write JSON document-store applications for Oracle Database that use drivers and tools that understand the MongoDB protocol.
Pain Free Vector similarity search for your apps: Oracle Database REST APIs
April 2026Working with the VECTOR datatype just became even easier with the ORDS v26.1.0 /vectorSearch endpoint for Auto-REST enabled tables and views.
