Meet Calvin, a recent graduate from Florida International University and one of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s savvy software engineers. After connecting with one of our recruiters at a college careers fair, he fell in love with Oracle’s mission and since last fall, has been helping create the future with us.
Kalyn joined us as a summer intern while she was studying at the California Institute of Technology. After she graduated, she joined us full-time as a software engineer. She feels her time as an intern set her up for the coding work she’s doing now. ”During my internship, I helped develop a tool for our sales team to size customer requirements, and wrote a product requirements document for an internal tool after gathering feedback from users and competitive analysis,” she says.
She credits our strong learning culture with her continued growth. “We do technical trainings as a team and take turns presenting cool technologies and concepts. My team is also sponsoring me to take an online UX design course. I picked the topic and my manager approved it!”
Kalyn also appreciates the fun her team has outside the office. “We have barbeques in the park across the street from our office, go to happy hours, do team building events like escape rooms—and have kept up the virtual fun during our remote working!”
Growing up, Fusion Apps engineer Cristian Reyes Hernandez, had no idea that helping out with and observing his family’s business was preparing him to secure a role at Oracle later on down the line. His journey to get here has been full of twists and turns but as the college graduate sits in his current job, writing and testing code for software that manages warehouse items and their movements, he reflects on how he’d been, unknowingly, training for it his whole life.
When thinking about data and databases, there’s only ever one company that comes to mind for software engineer Aparna Aidith—Oracle. From innovation to a solid work-life balance, she logs on to work every day knowing she’s growing both personally and professionally with every key stroke. Learning is a big priority for the ambitious self-starter and something she actively engages with whenever she gets a chance.
