“Moving our hospital information system to OCI gives us a secure and resilient foundation for critical hospital services. With disaster recovery across regions, we are better prepared to maintain continuity and recover our environment when needed.”

About Al Shifa Hospital

Al Shifa Hospital is a healthcare provider in Djibouti that is modernizing the infrastructure supporting its hospital information system (HIS) and electronic medical record (EMR) environment.

Business problem: Protecting availability for a critical hospital system

Because the HIS/EMR supports important hospital operations and patient services, Al Shifa needed a cloud environment designed for strong availability, security, connectivity, and resilience. The hospital also required a defined disaster recovery approach so it could recover the application environment if a major disruption affected production services.

Solutions and results: Multiregion OCI strengthens resilience and recovery

Working with Oracle Cloud Lift Services, Al Shifa established a multiregion Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environment for its IQVIA HIS/EMR platform, with production in the Paris region and disaster recovery in Madrid. The architecture uses OCI Compute, virtual cloud networks and other networking components, OCI Load Balancing, OCI Web Application Firewall, and OCI security controls, along with cross-region replication for the compute storage resources needed for recovery. OCI Full Stack Disaster Recovery helps orchestrate recovery of the application environment between regions. The design gives Al Shifa a secure, highly available, and resilient cloud foundation for a business-critical hospital system and a stronger basis for business continuity and future healthcare workload adoption.

Oracle Cloud Lift Services specialists helped translate the hospital’s requirements into an OCI architecture and supported the implementation through handover, helping reduce implementation risk around networking, security, availability, and disaster recovery. The engagement went live on August 5, 2026. Al Shifa rated the Cloud Lift Services engagement “5/5—very satisfied” and specifically praised the team’s cooperation.
