RIMAC reduces core system response times by up to 80% with Oracle
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with Oracle Exadata Database Service help Peru’s largest insurer move critical workloads to the cloud.

“With Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Exadata, RIMAC now has a resilient cloud foundation for core insurance operations and future data, automation, and AI work. This project proved that RIMAC can think big and deliver.”
About RIMAC
Founded in 1896 and headquartered in Lima, RIMAC is Peru’s largest insurance company, serving about 3.2 million customers with insurance and reinsurance products, including health, life, vehicle, property, multi-risk, and liability coverage, as well as annuities.
Business problem: Reduce legacy risk while keeping insurance services available
RIMAC needed to update core transactional platforms that had supported the business for 20 to 25 years. The aging environment limited scalability, flexibility, and integration, while creating end-of-life, performance, security, and disaster recovery risks.
Because the company’s insurance operations were highly interdependent, RIMAC also had to keep critical services available throughout the move. The work required detailed planning across infrastructure, applications, networking, data and analytics, and security teams.
Solutions and results: Move critical workloads to Oracle Cloud
RIMAC migrated its Oracle AI Database estate to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with Oracle Exadata Database Service to support high performance, high availability, and automated management for mission-critical database and analytics workloads. The Oracle environment forms part of RIMAC’s broader multicloud architecture, which uses AWS for customer-facing channels and Google Cloud for analytics and data platforms.
During the 15-month program, RIMAC, Oracle, and Kyndryl Consult teams migrated and upgraded legacy servers to Oracle Exadata, configured connectivity and security, refactored selected applications, and ran full-scale migration rehearsals and validation before production cutovers. The program moved more than 55% of RIMAC’s transactional workloads, including its most critical and complex systems, to the cloud. Process response times in core systems were reduced by up to 80%, with some processes shortened from days to hours. The new architecture with OCI GoldenGate, Oracle Database Zero Data Loss Autonomous Recovery Service, and OCI Full Stack Disaster Recovery also helped improve scalability, security, interoperability, and disaster recovery through multi-region replication and faster failover.
