Great Eastern Life modernizes data platform with Oracle Autonomous Database
Life insurance company migrates to Oracle Autonomous Database on Exadata Cloud@Customer to improve availability, performance, and data protection.
“With Oracle Autonomous Database, we now have better data security, system performance, and operational efficiency, which gives our customers and agents a better experience. Oracle Consulting has been with us every step of the way, giving us the confidence to achieve this transformation.”
Founded in 1908, Great Eastern Life is the largest life insurance company in Singapore and Malaysia, with more than 16 million policyholders. Facing increasing data demands due to business growth, the company wanted to update its IT infrastructure to address data management, security, and patching, which required system downtime. As an existing Oracle Database customer, Great Eastern Life decided to upgrade to Oracle Autonomous Database on Exadata Cloud@Customer with implementation assistance from Oracle Consulting for increased performance and scalability. The autonomous cloud database automated patching for zero downtime while automated encryption helped meet compliance requirements. IT employees now focus on more strategic data initiatives instead of complex database administration. The company’s agents and customers now have a better experience with applications that are highly available and responsive.
