Bringing Speed to the Web with Dyn Managed DNS

Share

The advanced traffic management features were exactly what we were looking for, enabling us to deliver on our promise to our customers. Geo-targeting is essential and Dyn enables us to do that.

— Aaron Peters, Co-founder & CEO, TurboBytes

When it comes to delivering content, speed can be the difference between a sale and someone bouncing from your site. Yet, so many companies rely on only one content delivery network (CDN).

That is why Aaron Peters and Sajal Kayan founded Turbobytes, which allows you to have your static content delivered by five global content delivery networks instead of just one. Turbobytes believes that the number one requirement for true online success is performance. If a company’s website or web application doesn’t load fast and run smoothly, users will walk away. Turbobytes ensures this doesn’t happen.

Their platform closely monitors end-user performance and makes sure content is always delivered by the fastest CDN in a given country or even state. This means you may be on on Edgecast in New Jersey but if Level 3 is better in Alabama, your content will be delivered through that instead.

“We are growing rapidly,” Peters said. “Companies easily understand the benefits of having multiple CDNs deliver their content, resulting in optimal performance world wide and higher reliability.”

But to follow through on their promises, Turbobytes needed an exceptional DNS service. They heard about Dyn from people within the industry, and had attended a Dyn social event at Velocity in Santa Clara, CA.

The Dyn Difference
During development, they tested a variety of DNS providers. But, according to Kayan, it was clear that the latency on Dyn’s Traffic Director was by far the lowest. This was critical for Turbobytes to maintain its speed.

There were other benefits as well, like the Geo location Load Balancing feature that allows control of DNS responses to customized geographic rule sets.

“[Dyn is] fast responding, knowledgeable, fun and easy to work with,” Peters said.

Peters went on to say that Dyn’s product, performance and service made the choice easy.

It also didn’t hurt that SoundCloud gave Dyn a ringing endorsement, according to Peters. He said that he takes the recommendations of people he thinks highly of very seriously.

Results
There has been rapid success for Turbobytes, which has been helped by the speed and reliability of Dyn Traffic Director. Attracting more customers, many of which Peters said have come out of the blue, is allowing Turbobytes to continue to scale. As a result, the future is bright for Turbobytes.

“We heard great things about the services, performance and the people who work at Dyn,” Peters said. “We’re happy to report those all turned out to be true.”
