What's New In Advanced Management Console

The Advanced Management Console (AMC) is available as part of Java SE Subscription and Java SE Advanced, and requires a commercial license for use in production. The Advanced Management Console is available to customers from My Oracle Support (MOS). Advanced Management Console 2.30

The Advanced Management Console 2.30 is an update release that includes the latest JDK CPU. Additionally, the AMC agent codebase has been migrated from javax to jakarta packages. There are changes to dependency libraries to support this migration, as listed below:

  • Jersey and Jackson libraries have been upgraded to versions 3.0.12 and 2.16.1 respectively.
  • Jakarta Activation API (JAF) and Jakarta XML Binding API (JAXB) libraries have been upgraded to versions 2.1.2 and 3.0.1 respectively.
  • jakarta.annotation-api v2.1.1, jakarta.ws.rs-api v3.0.0 and jackson-module-jakarta-xmlbind-annotations v2.16.1 libraries have been added as new dependencies.

Advanced Management Console 2.29

The Advanced Management Console 2.29 is an update release for including the latest JDK CPU and the following enhancements:

  • Oracle JavaScript Extension Toolkit (JET) library used for AMC WebUI has been upgraded to version 15.0.1.
  • Jersey and Jackson libraries used in Advanced Management Console Agent have been upgraded to versions 2.40 and 2.15.2 respectively.

Advanced Management Console 2.22

  • AMC WebUI now provides an option to specify the directories to scan for locating JDK/JRE in desktops.
  • An option has been added in AMC WebUI to ease removal of Deployment Rule Set from desktops.

Advanced Management Console 2.20

The Advanced Management Console 2.20 consists of the following enhancements:

  • Containerized version of AMC that is easily deployable on Kubernetes environment is now released.
  • AMC WebUI provides an option to delete the application data based on the filter criteria that is applied.
  • AMC supports Oracle WebLogic 14c from this release.
  • Security questions mechanism is introduced to improve password reset functionality.
  • AMC WebUI provides an option to lock frequent password reset activity.

Advanced Management Console 2.19

The Advanced Management Console 2.19 consists of the following enhancements:

  • AMC Agent now makes use of a jlinked runtime on 64-bit platforms. This has led to a considerable reduction in size of the agent artifact.
  • AMC Agent software is notarized and thus supported on macOS Catalina from this release.

Advanced Management Console 2.18

The Advanced Management Console 2.18 consists of the following enhancements:

  • AMC Agent is now supported on Linux platform for detection of Java Installation, Java Usage Tracking and management of Deployment Rule Sets
  • Oracle JavaScript Extension Toolkit (JET) library used in AMC has been upgraded to v8.0.0
  • Support has been added for Group Replication with MySQL
  • It is now possible to view details of "Unassigned Desktop Property Count" in Configuration->Desktop Groups tab
  • Until now, AMC Agent used to add usagetracker.properties file to all Java installation directories. This modification to local directories is now avoided for Java versions supporting system-wide Usage Tracker.

Advanced Management Console 2.15

Jersey and Jackson libraries used in Advanced Management Console Agent have been upgraded to versions 2.29 and 2.9.9 respectively.

A new filter "Unused JRE(Since)" has been added to Desktops tab. This will help administrators to filter the desktops based on last usage data of JRE. Additionally, a new column has been added to Desktop Properties View to list the latest usage data of JREs installed on desktops.

LDAP group name customization

Administrators can now configure LDAP group names according to the security requirements in their organization. Detailed steps to change default LDAP group names are provided in the install guide.

Configure display of records per page

Feature to help administrators customize number of records to be displayed per page in the Desktop and Java Usage views.

Advanced Management Console 2.10

AMC - LDAP Integration

You can configure your Oracle WebLogic server to connect to Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server, so that the Advanced Management Console can communicate with the WebLogic Server, without having to connect to the LDAP.

Advanced Management Console 2.9

The Advanced Management Console 2.9 primarily consists of the following:

Feature to help administrators specify folder paths that are to be excluded from agent scans. Administrators will be able to specify multiple Windows and macOS directory paths via the Configuration | Agent Settings UI, so that when an agent runs, it will query the server to find any exclude directory paths and refrain from scanning those directories and all its sub-directories.

The Advanced Management Console 2.8 is primarily a bug fix release.

Advanced Management Console 2.7

The following new features are introduced in Advanced Management Console 2.7:

  • Following features are added to partially support the planned upcoming release of Java SE 9:

    • The Advanced Management Console agents can detect Java SE 9 installations on managed desktops.

    • You can search for Java SE 9 installations on managed desktops in the console.

    • You can search for applications that run with Java 9 in the console.

  • Support for Non-enterprise JREs — Includes the following:

    • Executable (EXE) installers on Windows

    • Disk image (DMG) installers on Mac

  • Container-based user authentication: This feature allows customers to configure user authentication in the WebLogic Server and leverage it in the Advanced Management Console.

  • Desktop group improvements — Includes the following:

    • Automatic desktop group updates

    • Desktop groups based on IP ranges

  • Provides the following options:

    • To turn off agent auto updates on managed desktops

    • To export failed Java Usage Tracker records to a file

    • To choose what Java Runtime Environment (JRE) types to track on managed desktops

    • To define a default deployment rule set, which can be deployed to a target automatically, as part of agent installation

Advanced Management Console 2.6

This version is primarily a bug fixing release.

Advanced Management Console 2.5

The following new features are introduced in Advanced Management Console 2.5:

  • Java Usage Tracker in Advanced Management Console agents

  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) management on OS X

  • Displaying Application Names has been simplified

  • The following additional information about Java applications is shown:
    • Hostname and IP address

    • JRE paths

Advanced Management Console 2.4

The following changes are made in Advanced Management Console 2.4:

  • Support added for the following:

    • Agent support on OS X for usage tracking and Deployment Rule Sets

    • MySQL 5.7

    • WebLogic 12.2.1

  • JREs can be installed and removed on managed desktops.

  • Self-signed certificates for DeploymentRuleSet.jar files are supported.

  • Advanced Management Console agents can be un registered from the Advanced Management Console server.

  • Deployment rule sets management is a part of the Advanced Management Console user interface (UI) and not a separate application.

  • Status tab shows all the Java Usage Tracker records which are rejected by the Advanced Management Console.

Advanced Management Console 2.3

The following changes are made in Advanced Management Console 2.3:

  • Advanced Management Console agents are bundled with JRE 8u91 (was 8u71 in 2.2).

  • The Advanced Management Console agent logging mechanism is improved.

  • Automatic scripts are provided for Oracle WebLogic Server that create a new WebLogic domain and configure it to host Advanced Management Console.

Advanced Management Console 2.2

The following changes are made in Advanced Management Console 2.2:

  • The depersonalized managed endpoints feature is added: With this feature, user information, such as e-mail, first name, or last name, becomes optional when the Advanced Management Console agent registers itself on the application server. When the agent registers itself, the agent installation is a seamless process and you do not have to configure the AMCUser.properties file before installation.

  • Automatic deployment rules are enhanced to cover various applications, and to make created rules more targeted.

Advanced Management Console 2.1

The following changes are made in Advanced Management Console 2.1:

  • Support is added for Oracle Database as the Advanced Management Console database.

  • Migration is possible from Advanced Management Console 2.0 to Advanced Management Console 2.1.

  • Support is provided for customization of JDK 7 enterprise MSI files.

  • Export of desktop data and Java usage data as HTML or CSV files is now possible.

  • Support is added for the following features of Deployment Rule Set 1.2:

    • Rules based on checksums

    • Customized messages for run rules and default rules

    • Customer data that is added to the Java Usage Tracker record when an application that matches the rule is run.
