Liberty scales from startup to massive growth at record pace

Liberty Energy provides hydraulic fracturing services to onshore oil and natural gas exploration production companies in North America. Founded in 2011, the startup achieved multibillion dollars in annual revenue in only a few years, requiring new technology to support and drive its continued growth. To protect and optimize its trucking and rail supply chain from source to destination, Liberty Energy needed to harness growing volumes of data from siloed financial and workforce systems for real-time analysis. The company stores many petabytes of data and collects and processes roughly 1 GB of data per hour from critical field equipment around the world to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality services to customers.

Oracle Fusion Agentic Applications enables AI strategy

Liberty Energy brought finance, planning, supply chain, and workforce processes together with Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management, Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain and Manufacturing (SCM), and Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM), as well as Oracle Fusion Agentic Applications. Doing so has helped the business gain greater visibility into finance, projects, inventory, and costs while enabling real-time insights, predictive profitability analysis, and intelligent automation. With the growing volume of data and numerous sources adding complexity to its reporting, the company needed a more powerful analytics platform to integrate financial and operational data from its cloud and on-premises systems and establish a single source of truth.

Liberty Energy has gone live with supply chain and manufacturing modules and has implemented project planning capabilities using Oracle Primavera Cloud and Oracle Primavera Unifier. It is also in the process of implementing maintenance functionality in Oracle Enterprise Asset Management, additional financial planning capabilities in Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management, and contract management functionality.

Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse simplifies data with actionable analytics

Liberty Energy centralized finance, operations, supply chain, and workforce data on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse, giving decision-makers real-time visibility into field revenue, inventory usage, costs, and profitability using Oracle Essbase and Oracle Analytics Cloud. Liberty Energy’s lakehouse platform with Oracle AI Data Catalog and OCI Object Storage has scaled to over 50 TB of data and integrates data from AWS virtual servers, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure in MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Postgres, and Amazon databases seamlessly via open source Apache Iceberg tables. This facilitates the continuous ingestion of additional data sources and metrics for AI with Oracle Fusion and agentic apps.

OCI GoldenGate and Oracle Data Integrator enabled near-real-time data replication and scalable incorporation of new data sources. Low-code Oracle APEX with Oracle Autonomous AI Database applications and PaaS extensions also improved deployment and automate recruiting, onboarding, and operational workflows, thereby improving collaboration, accuracy, and speed across high-growth business functions.

Data-driven decisions allow for greater efficiency and growth

Standardizing on the Oracle solution reduced manual reporting and reconciliation effort by 30% and helped Liberty Energy scale beyond 700% growth while maintaining operational control. Analytics that previously took days to produce are now available in seconds, including pad- and well-level profitability analysis. The company also improved hiring and onboarding throughput to support peak workforce levels of more than 5,000 employees. The ease of provisioning and built-in maintenance capabilities of Oracle Autonomous AI Database, combined with Oracle Fusion Agentic Applications capabilities have helped Liberty Energy rapidly create and deploy an AI-driven data platform at the center of its multicloud architecture. The Oracle AI platform can support new development for business units, data sources, and users without disrupting operations.
