Enhance Smart Data Discovery with Data and Insights at Multiple Levels

Why Are We Building This?
In any today’s dynamic business environment, getting to the right—and unbiased—answer quickly is critical. Knowing that data and processes continue to change over time, businesses need to be able to meet the demands of tomorrow. With smart data discovery, the system automatically analyzes and generates explanations to any attribute, generating facts about your data, including the drivers of the results, key segments that influence behavior, and anomalies where the data is not aligned with expected patterns. These insights can be used as a starting point for further analysis and discovery. With data-driven guidance, you can quickly get to the right answer. This is just the beginning. Expanding these capabilities will automatically generate more insights at many levels within your dataset.

What is smart data discovery?

Smart data discovery expands the Explain capability of Oracle Analytics, beyond analyzing an attribute or measure. The product roadmap will include the following capabilities:

  • Explaining an entire dataset. For example: insights will be generated that will identify macro data behaviors such as trending and data cardinality.
  • Explaining specific data events. For example: if a data visualization shows a drop in revenue, the system will explain the reasons why revenue is dropping, or what events might be causing this change.
  • Automatically understanding the links to related data. For example: relating revenue performance to sales pipeline trends for greater insight into cause and effect, or specific events that help explain revenue performance results.
  • Adding additional algorithms delivered as part of the product to improve generated insights.
  • Improving scalability achieved through smart-data sampling.
  • Enabling Explain as an API-available process from other parts of the system.

How does this benefit you, the customer?

With smart data discovery, you instantly become more connected with the data, understanding changes in behavior or relationships so that you can take corrective action to prevent a negative impact. The goal is to rapidly deliver insights to kickstart a richer, contextual analytics experience. In this way, you can use more data and get to the right answer faster—and without bias.
