AI and machine learning

Autonomous technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are on the tip of every tongue in tech. But what is the difference between AI and ML? What are interesting use cases? What is “under the hood” of AI/ML and the algorithms that power ML models?

This month, Groundbreakers is happy to host three experts on the subject of AI and ML: Charlie Berger, senior director of product management for machine learning, AI, and cognitive analytics at Oracle; Heli Helskyaho, CEO at Miracle Finland and Oracle ACE director; and Katharine Jarmul, head of product at Cape Privacy.

Recorded via ZOOM on Wednesday, September 30, the podcast makes for interesting listening. Berger, Helskyaho, and Jarmul explain what makes AI and ML solutions powerful as well as the challenges we face from them. We delve into some of the fundamentals about these revolutionary technologies, and share some personal stories. Our three experts all have unique viewpoints. “AI and ML are just applied math,” says Berger. “It’s about finding patterns in large amounts of data.” Helskyaho states, “ML is the heart, or the brain, of AI.” While Jarmul is more irreverent: “AI is what you call ML when you put it in an investor deck.”
