Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City improves patient care with Oracle Health EHR
The United Arab Emirates hospital uses Oracle Health electronic health record (EHR) to help improve the patient experience and health outcomes.
“I'm grateful for the help Oracle Health colleagues have done... connecting me to many, many nephrologists across the world who otherwise I wouldn't have had an opportunity to meet.”
Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is one of Abu Dhabi’s largest tertiary care hospitals, renowned for its National Trauma and Burn Center as well as leading cancer and hematology programs. The hospital faced recurring challenges with patients who have difficult IV access—particularly among those requiring frequent treatments—leading to delays, compromised patient experience, and inefficiencies. By developing a specialized escalation policy and consultation form within Oracle Health Foundation EHR, the hospital began systematically identifying and tracking these patients, enabling timely interventions and benchmarking outcomes.
Oracle Health’s solution was chosen for its flexibility and ability to connect clinicians with global peers, facilitating shared insights and continuous process improvement. As a result, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City reports that it not only enhanced patient care and staff capabilities but also made nursing documentation more efficient and reduced treatment delays, resulting in meaningful improvements for both patients and healthcare providers.
