Access Bank

Headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, Access Bank serves 60 million customers through a network of more than 700 branches and service outlets, spanning three continents, and 24 markets. The bank chose Oracle to embark on a large-scale upgrade to address growing scalability and availability needs to meet rising customer service expectations across its retail, corporate, and treasury businesses.

“Our goal was to create a future-ready banking environment that delivers uninterrupted, efficient, and customer-centric services,” said Roosevelt Ogbonna, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Access Bank. “Our successful deployment of Oracle’s solutions has enabled us to simplify operations, reduce time-to-market for new products, and lay the foundation for sustained innovation across all areas of our business.”

Access Bank modernized its core banking system and supporting banking foundations with Oracle’s agile, open architecture, cloud infrastructure, and applications. Using Oracle’s extensive banking portfolio solutions, Access Bank deployed key capabilities to its customers including current and savings accounts; retail lending; payments; trade finance; corporate lending; and treasury capabilities.

As part of upgrading its computing infrastructure, Access Bank deployed Oracle Exadata and Oracle Private Cloud Appliance. These systems provide scalability, performance and availability for Oracle Database workloads and applications, improving OLTP performance, supporting more than 35 million transactions per day, and helping to reduce service level disruptions to enhance customer satisfaction.

“Oracle has been actively serving the African banking industry for more than 30 years and we’ve closely collaborated with Access Bank for two decades,” said Sonny Singh, executive vice president and general manager, Oracle Financial Services. “Our award-winning banking solutions are designed to offer customers the agility, flexibility, and ongoing innovation required for high-performance, secure operations at scale. Access Bank’s recent, successful deployment demonstrates how our integrated core banking platform and applications enable banks to modernize their operations and accelerate digital transformation across business lines without the risk of overhauling and replacing the applications that are central to their core operations.”
