Oracle OpenStack 5.0 (Queens)

Oracle OpenStack 5.0 is delivered in two parts, the Oracle Linux software packages and the Oracle OpenStack Docker images.

The Oracle Linux packages contain the configuration tools you need to deploy Oracle OpenStack. The packages can be installed on:

  • Oracle Linux 7.5 or higher
  • KVM hypervisor included with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 5 for Oracle Linux 7

The packages are available in the OpenStack 5.0 repository either from the Oracle Linux yum server at http://yum.oracle.com, or from the Oracle Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN) at http://linux.oracle.com.

When you deploy OpenStack services, the Oracle OpenStack Docker images are pulled (downloaded) from a Docker registry. You can configure your deployment to use either Docker Hub at https://hub.docker.com, or the Oracle Container Registry at https://container-registry.oracle.com. If you prefer, you can also configure a local Docker registry. You can download the Docker images, together with a script for uploading the images to the registry, from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud at: https://edelivery.oracle.com/linux.

Download Oracle OpenStack for Oracle Linux Release 2.1.1 (based on Kilo):

An OpenStack deployment consists of compute and control nodes:

  • Control nodes are installed on Oracle Linux 7.2 or higher
  • For compute nodes user can use Oracle VM Server 3.4.1 or KVM installed on Oracle Linux 7.2 or higher

The Oracle Linux packages needed to perform the Oracle OpenStack for Oracle Linux Release 2.1.1 deployment are available on the Oracle Linux yum server at http://yum.oracle.com, and on the Oracle Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN) at https://linux.oracle.com/. The packages are:

  • openstack-kolla-preinstall: This package is to be installed on hosts to be included in a deployment (that is, controller, compute, database, network, storage nodes). These nodes are referred to as target nodes.
  • openstack-kollacli: This package is to be installed on a controller node, or a separate Oracle Linux host, if required. This package includes the Oracle OpenStack for Oracle Linux toolkit, which is used to perform the deployment of the Docker containers to the target nodes. A node with this toolkit installed is referred to as a master node.
  • openstack-kolla-utils: This package contains the OpenStack CLIs used to access the Docker containers.

The Oracle OpenStack for Oracle Linux Release 2.1.1 Docker images are available on the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud at: https://edelivery.oracle.com/linux. The zip file you download includes a Docker image for each OpenStack service, and a script to perform the upload to a Docker registry.
