JD Edwards World Software Protection Codes and Install Keys

NOTE: If you are on JDE World Release A91 or above, you do not need to request a new SPC as it is no longer a requirement.

If you are installing a cumulative update or JDE PTF and you receive the V97SER# - “Change SPC & Expiration Date” screen during the LODRUN process, do the following:

  1. Press <F3> to exit the V97SER# screen
  2. Update file F9201 in library JDFINS (using the UPDDTA command or the like), and for Data item #CYR, change the Default Value from 10 to 30
  3. Sign on as JDEINSTAL and continue with your cumulative update or JDE PTF install

For assistance generating Seagull Software License Codes, you must contact JD Edwards World Technology Support through My Oracle Support.

IMPORTANT: A knowledgeable user should perform entering or changing a JD Edwards World Software Protection Code (SPC), as entering this code incorrectly can lock users out of your environment(s). For assistance with this process please contact JD Edwards World Technology Support through My Oracle Support.

JD Edwards World SPCs and System 00 Install Keys are generated based on: serial number, release of software, expiration date and number of licensed users. Therefore, a new SPC and Install Key will need to be generated if any of these variables change.

Obtaining Software Protection Code (SPC) and System 00 Install Key

Follow these steps to obtain a Software Protection Code (SPC) and System 00 Install Key (when the current SPC is expiring/expired, reallocating users from one machine to another, or performing a disaster recovery test).

Do not use the "Request license codes" link at the bottom of this page.

For customers on maintenance/support: Open a new service request for JD Edwards World Technology Support through My Oracle Support (Product = JD Edwards World Security; Problem Type = Sign on issues, SPC, SLM). Provide the information requested below.

For customers off maintenance/support: Utilize our Global Directory to contact your local support office via phone so a new internal service request can be opened for a World Tech engineer. Ask the Oracle Engineer to follow knowledge document 1803191.1. Provide your contact information (email address). The information below will be requested by the World Tech engineer.

For the keys to be generated, please provide the following information:

  1. Company Name – Provide your company name
  2. Contact Name – Provide your first name and last name
  3. Contact Email – Provide your email address
  4. Serial Number of Your iSeries – On the command line of your AS/400 type: DSPSYSVAL QSRLNBR, press <Enter>. Provide the serial number EXACTLY as it appears in the System Value.
  5. Licensed Expiration Date – Provide your desired expiration date. This will be the date that the new SPC you are requesting will expire. It is in MMDDYY format. For Disaster Recovery (DR) testing you will specify the last date of your DR testing. The expiration date is matched against the data dictionary item #CYR in your environment at sign-on. When you request your new SPC, you will want to use an expiration date that is 1 year less than your #CYR Data Dictionary Default Value. To determine this, go to the Data Dictionary (menu G90 option 4), and inquire on Data Item #CYR. If your default value is set to 20, for example, then you will use an expiration date of 12/31/19; if it is set to 30 then you will use an expiration date of 12/31/29.

NOTE : If your #CYR Default Value is set to a value of less than 20, then we recommend you change it to 20 (or higher). After you change it, you will need to refer to the document titled: WS: DIST Gen: Effective-Through Dates and #CYR Default (Doc ID 656831.1) in My Oracle Support to perform additional steps. The process of changing the #CYR Default Value affects dates in different parts of the system, so it is important that you follow the instructions in this document after changing the value. After performing these steps you may proceed with entering your new SPC.
  6. Licensed Number of Users – Provide the licensed number of users. Go to the JDE System Values (menu G94 option 14). After reading the menu message, press <F6>. Enter or verify the name of the JD Edwards World object library for the desired environment, press <Enter>. This field may be blank if you have unlimited users. You can allocate your licensed number of users across multiple serial numbers. The total of licensed number of users across all serial numbers should not exceed the number of licensed users indicated in your contract with Oracle.
  7. JD Edwards World Release – From any menu, type 97 on the command line. Under the column labeled Release Level, find the highest letter/number combination, for example A7.3. This is your JDE release. Alternatively, on the command line you may type: DSPPFM T97300 in your object library. On the Control line type W11 and press <Enter>. Columns 11 through 13 will contain your release level.

Entering the New SPC

To enter the new SPC, perform steps 1-8. If you cannot access the JDE system, go to step 9.

  1. Go to the JDE System Values (menu G94 option 14).
  2. After reading the menu message, press <F6>.
  3. Enter or verify the name of the JD Edwards World object library for the desired environment, press <Enter>.
  4. Obtain a print screen of this JDE System Values screen so you have a copy of your existing SPC information (in case your new SPC does not work and you need to revert to your existing SPC).
  5. In the Software Security Code field enter the new SPC you were provided. Note that this field is case sensitive, so the SPC needs to be typed in EXACTLY as it was generated.
  6. In the Software Expiration Date field enter the date that you provided for the Licensed Expiration Date parameter. NOTE: The Licensed Expiration Date is in MMDDYY format. The Software Expiration Date should be entered in the same format as your system date.
  7. In the Software Licensed Users field enter the value that you specified in the Licensed Number of Users parameter.
  8. Press <Enter>. LEAVE YOUR EXISTING SESSION UP (so you do not get locked out of JDE if the SPC is incorrect). Open up a new session and verify that you can sign on. Proceed to step 10. If you get an SPC error upon sign-on then go back to step 1 in this process and verify you have performed all the necessary steps correctly. If you are still having problems then contact the JD Edwards World Technology Support through My Oracle Support.
  9. Steps to take if you cannot access the JDE system:

    a. Sign on as QSECOFR who does not access the software directly

    h. Press <Enter>

    i. Obtain a JDE sign-on and sign on to the JDE system to ensure you can get in

  10. If you can sign on successfully, you may then proceed with entering your System 00 Install Key:

    a. Go to menu G90 option 5, Software Versions Repository.

    b. Press <F2> to open JDE Command Line Window.

    c. On the Command Line type CALL J99LSF#

    d. Inquire on System Code 00

    e. If the Install Key Matrix is different than the Install Key provided, change the Key Matrix to the Install Key provided. The new key may be longer or shorter than the original install key. If shorter, space through the additional characters.

    f. Change the Action Code to C and press <Enter>.

Note: Be sure to differentiate between the letter "O" and the number zero (0) when entering Install Key. There are no numeric zeros in the install key.
