The Oracle team treated our technology investment as if it was their own cash they were investing into the business.

As one of the world’s largest providers of maintenance, repair, and overhaul aviation services, Etihad Engineering’s success depends on making the correct repairs as quickly as possible to get an airline’s planes back in the air. Forecasting demand and cash flow is critical for the company’s business because it must keep a large inventory of parts and specialized tooling on hand to make sure it has what’s needed to quickly service a plane. But too often, financial analysts lacked the timely data they needed to guide decisions, and they spent too long hunting for information. Using Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), Etihad Engineering cut weeks from its monthly financial close process, giving analysts the data and insights they needed for planning during the first week of the month.

Why Etihad Engineering chose Oracle

Etihad Engineering relied on on-premises software to manage nearly all its operations. Updates to those systems took too long because the company had to carefully manage updates to minimize downtime and avoid any disruptions to the production line or other operations, since turnaround time is so critical to its customers. Etihad Engineering chose Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, EPM, Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM), and Human Capital Management (HCM) as part of a shift to cloud applications. Moving to the cloud meant the company could access more advanced capabilities while making easier updates, with less risk of disruption, while using the latest technology. Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications also allowed for easy and effective integrations with several critical applications that Etihad Engineering planned to keep on-premises.

Etihad Engineering’s leadership also appreciated Oracle Customer Success Services’ support to help the company get the greatest benefit from the system.

Results

For company leaders, the top mandate from the cloud shift was offering high-quality financial and performance information much faster. Etihad Engineering needs timely, reliable data to forecast business needs. The company’s monthly financial close used to drag into the middle of the month because it required too much manual data collection. With Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and EPM, the finance team closed and consolidated its books and shared the month-end report with business leaders during the first week of the month. “That gave everyone more time to spend analyzing the information, to make the decisions that really make the difference for our bottom line, especially in a business where we do a lot of forecasting,” Al Sayegh says.

In its procurement process, the company used Oracle Fusion Cloud Procurement to create a more efficient buying process, which included providing a portal used by suppliers and the company to offer tenders, complete transactions, and communicate. With Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM, the company replaced numerous human resources applications and gained a single platform for HR data that can be analyzed more easily.

Partners

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) helped Etihad Engineering scope and implement its Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.

“We aligned our ideas and vision together, and with TCS’s expertise in managing large-scale projects, we were able to deliver and to achieve our milestones,” Al Sayegh says.
